WHY SUV LOVERS CHOOSE CHEVY SUBURBAN

September 24th, 2020 by

If you know SUVs, you are sure to be familiar with the Chevy Suburban. It’s spacious, powerful, and has loads of safety specs to keep you and your precious cargo comfortable at all times. The Suburban is the perfect family car-it can hold up to nine passengers comfortably, has a great infotainment system, and plenty of cargo space. We’re here to tell you why SUV fanatics keep coming back to the Chevy Suburban year after year.

Spacious Interior

Finding a car that can comfortably seat more than five people can certainly be a challenge. Luckily, the Chevy Suburban includes three rows of seating that can easily hold nine passengers. The Suburban has the roomiest second row legroom out of any family size SUV, and best-in-class cargo volume as well. With all seats filled, you can fit 39.3 cubic feet of cargo in the trunk, or you can fold down the second and third row of seats to open up a whopping 144.7 cubic feet of space.

Safety and Technology

Chevy understands that the Suburban is typically geared towards families. This means safety specs have to be top-of-the-line to keep you and your little ones out of harm’s way. Standard to all models is the Chevy safety assist package which includes the following features:
Automatic emergency braking-upon detecting a possible front-end collision, the Suburban will automatically brake to avoid or lessen impact with the vehicle in front of you

Forward collision alerts-warnings will be given if you are following too close to the car in front of you, or if a forward collision is likely to occur
Pedestrian braking-the Suburban can sense a pedestrian crossing in front of you and brake in order to avoid contact
Intellibeam-adaptive high beams that turn on automatically in low-light settings, and turn off when the Suburban detects an oncoming vehicle
Following distance indicator-shows gap time in seconds between your vehicle and the car in front you to avoid tailgating and forward collisions

At higher trim levels, you can add on a slew of extra safety specs. Adaptive cruise control automatically maintains a predetermined following distance from the vehicle in front of you by gently braking or speeding up when needed. Lane departure assistance will alert you if the Suburban detects drifting out of your lane, and even provides gentle steering to keep you driving straight when you need to be. Rear cross traffic alerts will give you an audible warning if you are reversing and the Suburban detects an oncoming pedestrian or car making it much easier to reverse out of tight parking spaces or areas with low visibility. Some of the most exciting and cutting-edge additions are HD surround vision and safety alert seats. HD surround vision uses multiple camera angles to give you a bird’s-eye view of your surroundings at low speeds. This is perfect when squeezing your Suburban into a tight parking space or maneuvering around objects. The safety alert seat feature uses vibrations or light taps to signify to the driver a crash threat. Chevy wanted to incorporate this feature so that hearing impaired drivers can benefit from safety assistance systems.

As a family car, it is always nice to have entertainment available to occupy kids on long drives. The new rear seat media system gives each of your passengers their very own 12.6 inch LCD HD touch screens to watch whatever they want, whenever they want. Riders can share content from screen to screen, or watch their own media independently. They can also share navigation points with the driver while on the road using the Chevy 3 Plus System.

Engine and Handling

Sometimes family size SUVs come off as clunky and drive a bit less athletically than desired. With the Suburban, you do not need to sacrifice adequate handling of your vehicle in order to accomodate all of your passengers. With three powerful engine options and best in class suspension, the Suburban handles like a dream even on rough terrain. Standard on LS, LT, RST, Z71 and Premier models is the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine with 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The High Country model is equipped with a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Lastly, the Duramax 3.0L is available for upgrade on the LS, LT, RST, Premier and High Country models.

All Suburban models come with rear suspension to keep your vehicle well-balanced even on unpaved or uneven roads. Magnetic Ride Control and Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension are available on Z71 and High Country models to provide maximum comfort when driving conditions are rough. These features can adjust the Suburban’s driving clearance to be higher on rocky roads, or lower on paved roads to enhance aerodynamics and efficiency.

If your family is on the market for a new ride, we seriously recommend checking out the Suburban in person. The mix of functionality and handling makes this SUV a perfect match for parents everywhere.
